Green Lantern

The Green lantern of Earth is actually Hal Jordan, a top-notch test pilot for Ferris Aircraft Industries. Hal was selected by the Guardians of the Universe to be the first human Green Lantern, charged with the protection of Space Sector 2814.

When the alien Green Lantern Abin Sur crash landed on Earth, he was gravely injured. Realizing he had only moments to live, he sent his ring, the device that channels a Green Lantern's power, to seek out a replacement Green Lantern. Hal Jordan was selected because of his bravery, his fierce will, his inherent goodness and his ability to think swiftly and clearly when faced with a difficult, life-threatening situation.

Hal courageously accepted his new responsibility and quickly learned how to use the Green Lantern ring, which responds to the user's willpower. Hal is able to channel the strength of his will through the ring, which manifests its power as constructs of green light. The constructs can take any shape of form and are limited only by the ring-bearer's imagination. The ring also generates a Green Lantern uniform, gives its user the ability to fly, and protects the wearer from physical threats as well as the vacuum of outer space. The ring must be recharged every 24 hours by contact with a Green Lantern Power Battery.

As the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, Hal Jordan has saved the Earth and outlying alien worlds many times over, protecting the galaxy from villainous threats, like the evil yellow-ring-bearer Sinestro and the alien menace Kanjar Ro. Hal remains steadfast and strong in the face of these threats, and is always ready for any challenge, whether Earth-bound or emanating from the far reaches of space, always keeping in mind he Green Lantern Oath:

"In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, GREEN LANTERN'S LIGHT!"
